The American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) is not just a professional organization for designers. One of their key missions is to use design to increase civic engagement, and through the “Get Out the Vote” project, they encouraged designers to create posters for the 2016 general election.
My approach was to create a poster that was nonpartisan and appealed to a younger demographic. Choosing purple as the main color base to call to mind a mixture of blue and red, I imagined a narrative that saw the audience engaged in a conversation with a personified United States.
